Minister Kacır Announces Alper Gezeravcı’s Return Home
The Dragon capsule, carrying the Axiom-3 team, including Turkey’s first astronaut Alper Gezeravcı, landed in the ocean off the coast of Florida, USA, for 2 days.
With much excitement surrounding when Alper Gezeravcı would return to Turkey, Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır shared a post on the subject. The minister took to his social media account and shared a photo of Turkey’s first astronaut Alper Gezeravcı along with the hashtag ‘Be Proud of Turkey’ and the words ‘the man is returning home.’
Alper Gezeravcı also shared a post yesterday, expressing his fulfillment of a dream by representing Turkey in the infinity of space. He stated that his journey is a symbol of Turkey’s desire to exist among the stars and reach goals that know no boundaries. Gezeravcı hopes that his journey will inspire future generations to look at the sky and say ‘we are here too’ and emphasized that this pride belongs to all of us.
The vehicle that carried Alper Gezeravcı into space was launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, USA, on January 16. Ax-3 Mission astronauts Michael López-Alegría, Walter Villadei, Marcus Wandt, and Alper Gezeravcı entered the International Space Station on Saturday, January 20, at 07.13 US local time (15.13 Turkish local time). During his stay at the station, Gezeravcı conducted 13 experiments.
After an exciting journey to space, Alper Gezeravcı is now returning to Turkey, marking a significant milestone for the country and its ambitions in space exploration.
