Minister of Industry and Technology, Mehmet Fatih Kacır, has announced that Turkey has provided 250 million euros in financing to Organized Industrial Zones (OIZs) for green transformation projects. This initiative is part of the Turkey Organized Industrial Zones Project, in collaboration with the World Bank. The event was attended by the Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Murat Kurum. The Minister emphasized the importance of green transformation in light of the recent climate crisis and disasters.

Turkey has been striving towards a sustainable and inclusive economy for the past 22 years, without compromising the use of natural resources. Kacır highlighted Turkey’s commitment to the Paris Agreement and the country’s aim to achieve a net-zero emission target by 2053. The Minister also outlined two important programs in cooperation with the World Bank. The Turkey Organized Industrial Zones Project aims to support green transformation projects in OIZs with a budget of 250 million euros. Additionally, the Turkey Green Industry Project, with a budget of 450 million dollars, focuses on green infrastructure activities such as renewable energy and technology.

In order to support green transformation investments, Kacır mentioned the establishment of the Turkey Industrial Decarbonization Investment Platform in collaboration with international financial institutions. This platform aims to provide 5 billion euros in financing until 2030 for investments that contribute to decarbonization in priority sectors.

Furthermore, the Minister emphasized the importance of R&D and innovation in green production and resource efficiency. Turkey has allocated funds for projects that promote sustainability and contribute to the fight against climate change. Kacır also mentioned the Green Transformation Support Program, which aims to assist companies in implementing green transformation initiatives.
