Minister Özhaseki: Protecting the Seas and Preventing Illegal Buildings
The Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, Mehmet Özhaseki, recently shared on Twitter that the demolition of illegal structures obstructing public access to beaches in Balıkesir Ayvalık has begun. The project, titled “Seas Belong to the People,” aims to remove illegal constructions and occupations along the coastline to ensure that citizens can enjoy the beaches without obstacles.
In response to complaints from the public, the ministry took immediate action to address the issue. Minister Özhaseki emphasized that illegal structures and occupations on the beaches will not be tolerated, and the demolition process will continue to uphold the rights of the people to access and enjoy the seashore.
Additionally, Minister Yerlikaya and Minister Özhaseki recently met with the governors of 28 provinces to discuss the “Seas Belong to the People” project, which aims to protect and preserve public access to beaches across the country. The collaborative effort demonstrates the government’s commitment to safeguarding the environment and ensuring that all citizens can benefit from the natural beauty of the coastline.
By dismantling illegal structures and preventing occupations on the beaches, the government is taking proactive steps to maintain the integrity of coastal areas and promote sustainable development practices. The ongoing demolition process in Ayvalık is just one example of the government’s efforts to protect public spaces and preserve the natural environment for future generations to enjoy.
