Mongolia: A Potential Climate Change Leader
Delphos International, a company with over 35 years of experience in structuring transactions across frontier markets, has expressed its strong belief in Mongolia’s sustainable economic growth. In line with this commitment, the Chairman of Delphos and their head of strategic partnerships will be participating in the “Financing a green and SDG-aligned future” conference during the Sustainable Finance Week 2023 in Ulaanbaatar on June 13-14. The event is being held under the auspices of the President of Mongolia and aims to continue the collaboration between Delphos and local partners in financing inclusive and sustainable growth in Mongolia.
The Green Finance International Forum, which is hosting the conference, is a collaborative effort between the Office of the President of Mongolia, Mongolian Sustainable Finance Association, Institute of Finance and Sustainability of China, IFC International Finance Corporation Sustainable Banking and Finance Network, and the Trade and Development Bank of Mongolia. The forum seeks to promote global collaboration and sharing of best practices in green financing, with the goal of positioning Mongolia as a leader in combating climate change.
Delphos International has been actively involved in supporting high growth businesses in Mongolia for the past fifteen years, particularly in the energy, infrastructure, and social impact sectors. These projects align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and have resulted in annual CO2 emission reductions of over 9 million tonnes to date. Mongolia, with its population of three and a half million, is projected to achieve a Real GDP growth rate of 4.5% according to the International Monetary Fund.
