Monitoring Imported Phone Components

The Ministry of Commerce has recently published a Communiqué on Import Surveillance in the Official Gazette, outlining new regulations for the import of phone components and parts. The communiqué sets out specific prices for different types of components, such as antennas and main cards, to be imported in the future.

Under the new regulations, the prices are as follows: $5 per piece for all kinds of antennas and antenna reflectors, $100 per piece for others (including mother boards), $5 per piece for other parts and parts of telephone devices, and $35 per piece for items defined as “Others.” Importers will also need to obtain a surveillance certificate from the General Directorate of Imports in order to bring in these specified goods.

It is important to note that these regulations do not apply to the import of completely disassembled parts and components for use in the production of smart mobile phones. The new rules are set to go into effect 30 days after the publication of the notification.

In addition to the Import Surveillance Communiqué, the Ministry’s Customs General Communiqué on tariff and classification decisions has also been published in the Official Gazette. This communiqué aims to align Turkey’s classification decisions with those made by the European Union Commission, ensuring consistency and harmonization between the two systems.
