
Murder Mystery: A Decade Later, 13 Detained in Connection with Man Found Dead in Cotton Sack

Tragic Murder of Young Girl Shocks Rural Community
A heartbreaking incident occurred on January 26, 2014, in the rural Akdilek neighborhood of the Eyyubiye district. Zehra Topdag, a young girl playing with her friends, went missing, prompting a report to the gendarmerie. During the search, Zehra’s lifeless body was discovered in a sack of cotton under a wooden cedar in front of her uncle İsmail Topdağ’s house.
It was determined during the examination that Zehra had drowned at the scene. In response to this tragic event, a special team was formed by the Gendarmerie Crime Research Team (JASAT) within the Provincial Gendarmerie Command to investigate the unknown murder.
After meticulously collecting new evidence, including the detainment of 13 individuals, including Zehra’s parents, on suspicion of involvement in her death, the suspects were referred to court under tight security measures following gendarmerie procedures. The investigation into this heartbreaking crime is ongoing.
The community has been left in shock and mourning over the loss of young Zehra. Authorities are working tirelessly to bring justice for the little girl and her family during this difficult time.
