National Football Team climbs 4 spots in FIFA rankings
Turkey’s National Football Team has climbed up four places to secure the 38th position in the FIFA world rankings for October. This announcement was made by the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA).
The Crescent-Stars achieved this remarkable feat after their recent victories against Croatia and Latvia, which also secured their qualification for the 2024 European Championship finals. This marks their best ranking since December 2021 and the first time they’ve seen a four-place increase since October 2019.
With a total of 1,498 points, Turkey has now become the team with the highest number of accumulated points among the top 53 teams in the October rankings.
On the other hand, Croatia, one of Turkey’s rivals in Group D of the 2024 European Championship Qualifiers, experienced a downfall by dropping four places to 10th in the rankings. This makes them the team with the biggest loss in terms of points. Conversely, Wales witnessed a rise from 33rd to 28th place, while Latvia jumped from 136th to 132nd.
Armenia, unfortunately, suffered a decline and fell to the 95th spot. The top five countries in the rankings, as published on FIFA’s website, remained unchanged this month.
Argentina, the reigning champion of the 2022 World Cup, continued to maintain its first-place position with 1,861 points. France followed in second place with 1,853 points, while Brazil secured the third spot with 1,812 points. England and Belgium occupied the fourth and fifth places, respectively, with 1,807 and 1,793 points.
With this rise in the FIFA rankings, Turkey’s National Football Team is gaining recognition for their exceptional performance and raising hopes for future success in international competitions.
