Netanyahu Accused of Obstructing Evidence in Hamas’s Aqsa Flood Operation
Civil Democracy Movement Calls on Israeli Attorney General to Investigate Netanyahu’s Actions During Al-Aqsa Flood
The Civil Democracy Movement, which has been actively participating in anti-Netanyahu demonstrations, recently addressed a letter to Israeli Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara regarding the Al-Aqsa Flood. This unexpected and devastating event, which took place on October 7, has raised serious concerns regarding Netanyahu’s handling of the crisis.
The movement posted the letter on its official Facebook page, describing the Al-Aqsa Flood as a “complete intelligence and operational surprise.” The letter condemned Netanyahu for shirking his responsibility despite the widespread shock and urged the Attorney General to intervene immediately.
In the letter, it was alleged that Netanyahu attempted to destroy evidence, burn crucial documents, and suppress any records that could incriminate him in the aftermath of the disaster. These actions were seen as an attempt to obstruct a future investigation committee from performing their duties effectively.
The letter also highlighted that Israel’s theory attributing the attack to Hamas had completely collapsed. It called upon Chief Prosecutor Baharav-Miara to step in and prevent further destruction of evidence. The movement stressed the importance of salvaging any documents that were burned or deleted and taking measures to protect vital information related to the incident.
Netanyahu has not yet responded to the accusations leveled against him in the letter. While Israeli law enforcement officials and politicians have acknowledged their failure to anticipate the attack and assumed responsibility, the Prime Minister’s silence on the matter has raised eyebrows.
The Al-Aqsa Flood, initiated by Hamas’s armed wing, Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, involved a comprehensive assault on Israel, with thousands of rockets fired from Gaza and armed groups successfully seizing control of the Beit Hanun-Erez Border Gate. Subsequently, these groups penetrated Israeli settlements, prompting a retaliatory attack by the Israeli army involving numerous warplanes.
The devastating consequences of this conflict were evident, with 1,400 Israelis, including 306 soldiers, losing their lives and 4,834 sustaining injuries due to the attacks from Gaza. On the Palestinian side, the Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that 4,385 people, including 1,756 children, lost their lives, and more than 13,000 were injured as a result of Israel’s retaliatory strikes. Additionally, 86 Palestinians perished during Israeli forces’ attacks alongside Jewish settlers in the occupied West Bank. Tragically, 16 journalists also lost their lives in Israel’s assault on Gaza.
As the Civil Democracy Movement seeks accountability and answers regarding Netanyahu’s actions during the Al-Aqsa Flood, the Attorney General’s involvement has become crucial. It remains to be seen how this situation will unfold and if further investigations will shed light on the events surrounding the Al-Aqsa Flood.
