Netanyahu’s Response to Minister’s Threats at Cabinet Meeting
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the threats made by far-right ministers regarding a potential land invasion of the Rafah region in Gaza during a recent cabinet meeting, according to The Times of Israel newspaper.
Netanyahu made it clear that he does not need anyone to dictate his actions or strategies, stating, “I don’t need anyone to tell me what to do or how to do it.” He emphasized the importance of unity among his cabinet members and hinted at imminent developments, saying, “Some things are happening and will happen. I expect unity from this table.”
Defense Minister Yoav Gallant expressed strong interest in preparations for the land invasion of Rafah, indicating that the operation could take place very soon. However, Minister of National Missions Orit Strock raised concerns about negotiating with Hamas under fire, highlighting the current situation.
Far-right leaders within the Israeli government, such as National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, are pushing for immediate action, favoring a continued war and an attack on Rafah over negotiations and a ceasefire. Smotrich and Ben-Gvir even threatened to withdraw from the government if their demands for a land invasion were not met.
