Netherlands’ Highway Blocked by Climate Activists
Climate activists blocked the highway in the Netherlands
Environmental activists from the organization “Extinction Rebellion” organized a protest to bring attention to climate change on the A10 highway in Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands, where demonstrations were banned. The group protested by blocking the banned A10 highway near the old headquarters building of a bank in Zuidas, aiming to stop the financing of fossil fuel projects. Unfortunately, the protest led to some activists being detained by the police. This demonstrates the passion and urgency with which advocates for environmental protection are acting around the world. Although these efforts may seem extreme to some, the activists are determined to bring change.
