Construction has officially commenced on a new building for the office of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President to the region and the City Hall in Jalal-Abad. The site of the construction is where a former prison colony, Correctional Facility No. 10, once stood. The head of the State Committee for National Security, Kamchybek Tashiev, laid a capsule to mark the beginning of the project, as reported by his assistant Otkurbek Rakhmanov.

The decision to demolish the prison colony and repurpose the land for a new government building was made, with plans to also relocate the prison colony to Bazar-Korgon district. The new building for the regional administration and municipality will cover an area of 7.6 hectares and is set to be completed by 2025. Approximately 1.6 billion soms from the state budget will be allocated for the construction.

In addition to the government building, plans include the construction of an administrative building, a shopping and entertainment complex, a museum, and a park on the site of the former correctional facilities. The development aims to revitalize the area and provide modern facilities for government functions and public use.

The project signifies a significant step towards modernizing infrastructure in Jalal-Abad and creating a more functional and efficient government workspace for the region. It is expected to bring new opportunities for growth and development to the city.
