New Humanitarian and Medical Aid Flights to Sudan from Kuwait Commence
Kuwait Sends Humanitarian Aid to Sudan
Kuwait has announced that it will send humanitarian and medical aid to Sudan to help deal with the ongoing conflict between the army and the Rapid Support Forces (HDK). In a written statement from the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it stated that aid flights will continue for four consecutive days, once a day.
The aid decision was taken by the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmed al-Jaber al-Sabah, Crown Prince Sheikh Meshal al-Ahmed al-Jaber al-Sabah, and the Council of Ministers. The statement highlighted that, “given the current conditions, urgent humanitarian and medical assistance should be sent to the sister country Sudan.”
The Kuwait Red Crescent, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Defense are working together to deliver humanitarian and medical aid as soon as possible.
The disagreement over the last few months regarding the “military security reform” turned into a hot conflict between the army and the HDK on April 15th. The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that General Abdulfettah al-Burhan, the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council and the Commander of the Army, decided to dissolve the HDK and declare it a “rebel force against the state.”
The Sudanese Ministry of Health announced that the number of people who lost their lives in the clashes between the army and the HDK that started on April 15 increased to 550, and the number of injured to 4,926.
Kuwait’s aid flights are aimed at helping to alleviate the humanitarian crisis and support the people of Sudan in this difficult time.
