Azerbaijan to Establish Special Anniversary Medal for National Press’s 150th Anniversary
In honor of the 150th anniversary of the national press in Azerbaijan, a special anniversary medal is set to be established. Reportedly, the medal will be named “150th Anniversary of the Azerbaijani National Press (1875-2025).”
This year marks the 150th anniversary of the creation of the national press in Azerbaijan. The first Azerbaijani newspaper, “Ekhinci,” was published on July 22, 1875, under the leadership of Hasan bey Zardabi, a prominent figure in the enlightenment movement of that time.
“Ekhinci” played a crucial role in laying the foundation for the national press in Azerbaijan. As a result, July 22 is commemorated annually in Azerbaijan as National Press Day.
As the nation gears up to celebrate this significant milestone, the establishment of the anniversary medal serves as a testament to the importance of the national press in Azerbaijan’s history and its continued dedication to journalistic excellence.
