New Precautions Implemented for Missed Hospital Appointments, Patient Consent Required- Minister Koca Announces
Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca has announced new measures to tackle the issue of missed hospital appointments. In a recent statement, Minister Koca revealed that a new “approval” application will be introduced for public hospital appointments.
The Minister highlighted the significant number of missed appointments, with 25 million unique citizens canceling 81 million appointments at the last minute. This has left 17 million appointment slots unused, leading to a waste of valuable healthcare resources. To address this issue, individuals will now be required to confirm their attendance by 23.59 the day before their appointment. Failure to confirm their appointment will result in it being allocated to another individual.
Moreover, Minister Koca emphasized that individuals who fail to attend their appointments will face stricter consequences. Previously, those who missed appointments could not schedule a new one in the same branch for 15 days. However, this sanction will now be extended to all branches for a 15-day period for individuals who miss their second appointment.
On a positive note, Minister Koca also announced progress in the production of a domestic insulin sensor. The government aims to distribute the sensor to all citizens with diabetes free of charge. Plans for mass production are underway, with the sensor expected to be 90 percent locally produced. Legal permissions and documents are being obtained, and the sensor is set to be used in clinics within the next 6-7 weeks.
The new measures aimed at reducing missed appointments and improving healthcare services are part of the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency of the healthcare system. Citizens are encouraged to stay updated on these developments by following NTV on social media.
