New Regulations Require GPA 3.5+ for Grant Eligibility

The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation has introduced a new procedure for grant allocation and redistribution, aimed at ensuring fairness and transparency in the process. During a recent press conference, officials provided detailed information on how the system will work.

According to First Deputy Minister Shokhrukh Daliyev, the process will be overseen by three separate commissions, each consisting of no fewer than nine members, including representatives from the public. These commissions have been defined as the Academic Performance Assessment Commission, the Social Activity Assessment Commission, and the Special Commission for final review.

The Academic Performance Assessment Commission will evaluate the academic performance of grant candidates, led by the university rector and the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs. The Social Activity Assessment Commission will assess the social engagement of applicants, led by the Vice-Rector for Youth Affairs and Spiritual-Enlightenment Work. The Special Commission, also led by the university rector, will consolidate the results of both assessments.

Ministry Department Head Abduvali Kholiqov highlighted the objective evaluation system for social activity, which will be automated and based on specific indices and indicators extracted from the system. This system will ensure that social activity assessment is fair and consistent.

Furthermore, new grant allocation rules have been approved by the government. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 to be eligible for educational grants, and those with GPAs below this threshold will not be considered for grant redistribution.

Overall, the Ministry aims to implement a rigorous and transparent process for grant allocation and redistribution in higher education institutions, with strict control mechanisms in place to ensure fairness for all candidates.
