North Korea Builds New Structure Near Satellite Launch Site: Allegedly

North Korea has begun the construction of a new structure near the Sohae Satellite Launch Site in Tongchang-ri, according to a report published on the “38 North” website. This construction follows the recent demolition of some structures in an agricultural area near the launch site. The report suggests that the new structure could be part of North Korea’s effort to modernize and develop its satellite launch facility, although its exact purpose is yet to be determined.
In addition to this, the report also states that North Korea has expanded and renewed the Yongbyon nuclear field. This facility is considered to be the “heart” of North Korea’s nuclear program and its renewal raises concerns about a potential resumption of the country’s nuclear activities.
It is important to note that during the 2019 bilateral summit between former US President Donald Trump and North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un, Kim pledged to shut down the controversial Sohae Satellite Launch Field. However, the recent construction of a new structure suggests that North Korea may be continuing to develop its missile capabilities.
These developments highlight the ongoing tensions surrounding North Korea’s nuclear and missile programs. The international community, including the US and other countries, will likely continue to closely monitor North Korea’s actions in this regard.
