International Collaboration on Child Welfare: A Discussion with Al-Arabiya TV
Ashgabat, Turkmenistan – Oguljahan Atabayeva, Vice President for Medical Activities of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care, participated in a significant dialogue with Rizwan Khan, the main presenter of Al-Arabiya TV, during his recent visit to Turkmenistan. The discussion, reported by the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH), revolved around various initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of children in need.
Atabayeva highlighted the ongoing efforts of the foundation, particularly in relation to an international conference held to commemorate the fourth anniversary of the organization, which was established on March 29, 2021, through the initiative of the Hero of Arkadag. The event, hosted in the city of Arkadag, served as a platform for sharing insights and fostering international cooperation in child welfare.
In her conversation with Khan, Atabayeva detailed the collaborative projects undertaken in partnership with UNICEF, focusing on advancements in education and healthcare designed to create supportive environments for children. She emphasized the foundation’s role in a noteworthy project in coordination with the UN Development Program aimed at supplying essential medicines for the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases and safeguarding maternal and child health in Turkmenistan.
Additionally, Atabayeva spoke about the Foundation’s extensive humanitarian outreach, which has included providing aid to children impacted by the recent devastating earthquake in Turkey. The foundation has also extended assistance to children in various nations, including Ukraine, Palestine, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and Primorsky Krai in Russia.
The Vice President shed light on the Health and Rehabilitation Center adjacent to the foundation’s main facility in Arkadag, describing its vital role in promoting the health of children. She noted that such initiatives represent a meaningful investment in their future.
“We aim to exchange valuable experiences with representatives from other countries participating in the international forum. Engaging with experienced specialists is critical, as working with children is both rewarding and challenging. Our foundation is committed to enabling our specialists to enhance their knowledge and skills in this field,” Atabayeva remarked.
This exchange underscores the importance of international cooperation in addressing the pressing needs of children globally and highlights Turkmenistan’s active involvement in the humanitarian efforts supported by the United Nations and other international organizations.
