Orbán’s Challenger Denies Allegations of Supporting Unsigned Document
Fidesz MEP accuses Péter Magyar of supporting the “continuation of the war”, but the truth may be different.
According to Fidesz MEP Csaba Dömötör, Magyar, the leader and MEP of the opposition Tisza party, has signed a document showing his support for the continuation of the war. The proposed decision submitted to the European Parliament, co-authored by Magyar, calls for unconditional military support for Ukraine and the allocation of funds for equipment and training operations.
However, Magyar later claimed that his signature on the document was a mistake and that he did not support the radical pro-war proposal. EP President Roberto Metsola also acknowledged the error and promised to remedy the situation.
Magyar expressed his concern over the false accusations and propaganda targeting him for his supposed support of the war. He demanded an official explanation from the EP or EPP leadership to ensure that such incidents do not happen again.
The controversy surrounding Magyar’s signature on the document highlights the complexity of political alliances and the importance of clear communication and accountability in decision-making processes within the European Parliament.
