Over 740,000 Kyrgyzstan Children Not Enrolled in Kindergarten

Adylbek Kasymaliev Participates in Launch of Innovative Kindergarten Project in Bishkek

On November 14th, 2023, First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Adylbek Kasymaliev, participated in the launch of a pilot project known as Shoola kindergarten in the capital’s Kasym residential area. The aim of the project, as reported by the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers, is to introduce innovative solutions to increase coverage with preschool education.

One of the key features of the pilot project is the use of pull-out beds to maximize the efficiency of the usable space, creating additional free space for games and activities while children are awake. This innovative approach allows for the efficient use of the limited space of the kindergarten, with the children’s bedroom space being utilized not only for rest, but also for learning and play.

As a result of these enhancements, the Shoola kindergarten will be able to accommodate an additional 180 children, bringing the total number of children attending to 960,000, covering about 40 percent of the one to six years old population in Kyrgyzstan.

Adylbek Kasymaliev highlighted the importance of this project, noting that currently only 26 percent of children in the country are covered by preschool education. He emphasized that the implementation of this pilot project will significantly increase the republican coverage with preschool education to 40 percent.

The initiative for this project came from the president and was presented by the Social Partnership and Regional Development Fund with active assistance from the Ministry of Education and Science.

This innovative approach to preschool education in Kyrgyzstan is a significant step forward in addressing the need for increased access to early childhood education, and it is hoped that this pilot project will serve as a model for future developments in the country.
