Ownership of Tashkent’s “Magic City” Changes Again
The ownership structure of Stargate Systems, a company that leased land in the Uzbekistan National Park to create the Magic City entertainment complex, is once again set to change. Former Tashkent mayor Jahongir Ortiqkhojaev initially established Magic City before transferring ownership to his son-in-law. Now, the majority shares of the company are being transferred to “Xonadon Taomlar” LLC, which is registered at the same address as Ortiqkhojaev’s business.
The Competition Committee has approved “Xonadon Taomlar” LLC’s application to acquire 86.2% of the shares in Stargate Systems. The committee concluded that this transaction would not affect market competition and granted consent for the transfer of ownership.
Previously, Stargate Systems was owned by the AKFA Group, which was controlled by Ortiqkhojaev. Rights to the Magic City trademark were transferred to Stargate Systems from J-United Group, another company owned by Ortiqkhojaev. Ownership of Stargate Systems had shifted to “Tashkent Aquarium” LLC in 2023, with Alisher Abduvakhidov, the son-in-law of Ortiqkhojaev, becoming the company’s sole effective owner.
Currently, Abduvakhidov holds stakes in various companies, including Artel Technical School, Qo‘shni, Carstone Amusement, and Capital Dynamics. With the transfer of 86.2% of Stargate Systems’ shares to “Xonadon Taomlar” LLC, it is expected that Tashkent Aquarium will be removed from the list of founders.
Additionally, a new company called “Housing Dishes” LLC, registered at the same address as Stargate Systems, is linked to Tashkent Aquarium. The company’s activities include restaurant services and food delivery, with a declared charter capital of 50 million UZS. The director of “Housing Dishes” LLC is Bekzod Abdumajidov, with Firdavs Mukhammadiev as the sole founder, who also owns Magic Stop, a retail company registered at the same address.
The ownership changes within Stargate Systems and the emergence of “Housing Dishes” LLC suggest ongoing developments in the management and operation of the National Park in Tashkent.
