Özel issues warnings at CHP local governments workshop – Last Minute Turkey News
The “CHP Municipality Workshop on the Path to Power” continued for its second day with important discussions and presentations by key figures in the party. The workshop, which was held behind closed doors and not open to the press, saw the participation of mayors and provincial heads from various cities.
Mersin, Aydın, Antalya, Ankara, and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayors, along with General Secretary Selin Sayek Böke, shared their insights and experiences during the workshop. The presentations were followed by a closing speech from CHP Chairman Özgür Özel.
During his speech, Özel emphasized the importance of appointing qualified individuals to municipal positions based on merit and avoiding actions that could harm the party. He also mentioned that a new structure for local governments within the Headquarters is in the works, and stressed the need for better coordination between municipalities.
Furthermore, Özel took the time to listen to the suggestions and demands of the municipal mayors in attendance. It was reported that he plans to bring up these issues, as well as others concerning general administration, in a meeting with President Erdoğan.
