Özersay Re-elected President at 4th Ordinary Congress of the People’s Party
The 4th Ordinary Congress of the People’s Party (HP) was just held, and Kudret Özersay was re-elected as the President. The congress, which took place at the Near East University (YDU) Conference Hall, saw the election of the president and the new party council, as well as the implementation of several changes in the party charter.
During his speech at the congress, Kudret Özersay reflected on the achievements of the People’s Party in the past two years and shared his vision for the future. He emphasized the party’s role as an effective opposition and highlighted the concrete gains made through public pressure on various issues, such as the fake diploma scandal.
In terms of the Cyprus issue, Özersay advocated for a visionary approach that goes beyond the traditional options of separate states or federal solutions. He also announced changes to the party charter, including the addition of Vice-Presidents, a party spokesman, and an expanded Foreign Relations Council (FMC).
Following Özersay’s speech, Turgut Alas, the Secretary General of the People’s Party, took the stage and emphasized the party’s resilience in the face of challenges. Alas underscored the party’s commitment to being the voice of the people and expressed confidence in the party’s future as a significant political force in the country.
At the congress, members of the Party Assembly were determined, with new members appointed to various districts across the country. The Party Assembly will play a crucial role in shaping the party’s policies and direction in the upcoming period.
