Erzurum, located in eastern Turkey, has been designated as the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) Tourism Capital of 2025. The city is gearing up to host the Palandöken Economic Forum on April 26-27, 2025, with a focus on “An Equitable Future in a Smart World: Intelligent Economies and Global Inequality”. This highly anticipated event will bring together international figures, including state authorities, academics, and business professionals, to discuss the impact of digital transformation, particularly the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in different economies.
The Palandöken Economic Forum will feature five primary sessions and two special sessions where keynote speakers from various ECO nations and experts from countries like Switzerland, France, the UK, the USA, and the UAE will delve into various economic issues. In addition to these discussions, the Forum will include activities such as a summit with tourism ministers, a planting ceremony representing ECO countries, and the opening of the Northeastern Anatolia Regional Career Fair (KUDAKAF’25).
Erzurum, known for its winter tourism offerings, is nestled near Palandöken, a popular winter sports destination in Turkey. The city boasts the Palandöken Ski Resort, featuring legendary slopes, Türkiye’s longest ski track, and illuminated tracks for night skiing – earning Erzurum the title of European Capital of Winter Sports for 2025 by the European Capitals and Cities of Sports Federation (ACES).
Beyond winter sports, Erzurum offers a wealth of natural and historical attractions that make it a year-round tourism gem. As we transition into spring, visitors can explore the city’s historical, cultural, and natural wonders.
