Palestine calls for emergency UN Security Council meeting following Israel’s attack on Nusayrat
President Mahmoud Abbas of Palestine has called for urgent intervention from the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) following a deadly attack by the Israeli army. The official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that Abbas instructed Palestine’s representative to the UN to request a meeting with the UNSC in response to what he called a “bloody massacre.”
Abbas has been reaching out to Arab countries and international partners in order to push for the UNSC meeting, emphasizing the need for international action to address the ongoing crisis in the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem. He condemned Israel for continuing its crimes and violating international law with the apparent support of the United States.
The Israeli army has confirmed carrying out attacks in the central part of the Gaza Strip, resulting in the rescue of four Israeli prisoners in separate locations. Reports indicate that 210 Palestinians have been killed and over 400 injured in a series of intense land, air, and sea assaults on the Nusayrat Refugee Camp and other areas in central Gaza.
