Resistance Groups in Gaza Call for Unity and Armament
In a joint statement, resistance groups in Gaza have come together to address the ongoing conflict in the region. The statement emphasizes the widespread genocide being perpetrated against Palestinians and condemns Israel’s targeting of any and all resistance groups without discrimination.
The unified message stresses the necessity for unity among the resistance groups, calling for solidarity and armament in the face of Israel’s attempts to sow chaos and division. The statement also denounces Israel’s rejection of proposed solutions to end the occupation and its continuous targeting of Palestinians and the Palestinian cause.
The statement follows a comprehensive attack launched by Hamas’s armed wing, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, on October 7, 2023, in response to ongoing violations against Palestinians and sacred values, particularly the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Since then, the conflict has resulted in a devastating toll on both sides.
Israel reports that 1,200 Israelis have died and thousands more have been injured in the attacks, while over 28,000 Palestinians, including thousands of children and women, have been killed, and nearly 70,000 others have been injured in Israel’s attacks on the Gaza Strip. The destruction of civilian infrastructure and the targeting of hospitals and educational institutions have further exacerbated the crisis.
In a brief humanitarian pause in the conflict, 81 Israeli and 240 Palestinian prisoners were released, but Israel has continued to detain and imprison thousands of Palestinians. Additionally, 397 Palestinians have lost their lives in attacks by Israeli forces and occupying Jews in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.
Meanwhile, clashes between the Israeli army and Hezbollah have also resulted in significant casualties, with 205 Hezbollah members, 11 Amal members, 12 Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement members, and 12 Hamas Movement members, as well as Lebanese and Israeli civilians, and soldiers losing their lives.
The joint statement from the resistance groups not only highlights the urgent need for unity and action but also serves as a reminder of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the region. As the conflict continues to escalate, the international community is called upon to address the atrocities and work towards a peaceful resolution in Palestine.
