Palestinians Displaced by Israel Suffer Worsening Living Conditions in Rainy Season

The recent attacks on the Gaza Strip by Israel have resulted in the displacement of thousands of Palestinians from their homes, leaving them in search of safety and shelter. As they flee the violence, they face a new set of challenges as winter weather adds to their struggles.
36-year-old Rim es-Saka is just one of the many displaced individuals who have found themselves living in difficult conditions. Forced out of Gaza city and relocated to Rafah in the south, Saka, along with his family, is struggling to survive in a tent within a UNRWA asylum center. The rainy and cold weather has made their situation even more unbearable, with their belongings becoming unusable and the lack of proper shelter leaving them exposed to the elements.
In another area, Palestinian refugees in the El-Mevasi region are facing similar hardships. Their tents, used as shelter from the winter cold, have been flooded by rain, leaving them in desperate need of basic necessities. As Ekrem Al-Ghazali, a Palestinian youth who has also been displaced, tries to mitigate the difficulties, he reflects on the loss of their belongings and the uncertainty of when they will be able to return to their homes.
For Bilal al-Hattu and his family, the struggle is no different. Taking shelter in a house under construction in the west of the city of Deir al-Belah, they are forced to cope with the dangers of the attacks, as well as the added stress of rain and cold weather. The limited food aid and supplies provided to the displaced Palestinians further exacerbate their challenges.
The unfortunate reality for the forcibly displaced Palestinians is that they must confront not only hunger and deprivation but also the fear and exhaustion brought on by the harsh winter conditions. As they endure these hardships, the uncertainty of when they will be able to return home looms over them, adding to their distress. The ongoing attacks have tested their physical and mental strength, leaving them in dire need of assistance and support.
