Parliament approves deal for Kyrgyz-Turkish Hospital management in Turkey

Bishkek, March 12, 2025 – The Parliament of Kyrgyzstan has recently approved an agreement with Turkey regarding the joint management of the Kyrgyz-Turkish Hospital named after Recep Tayyip Erdogan. This agreement includes provisions for the training of up to 20 doctors from Kyrgyzstan in Turkey each year, as well as support for the enhancement of educational programs for medical training in Kyrgyzstan.

The agreement, which will be signed for a period of five years and renewable every five years thereafter, will see the Turkish side financing the hospital with an amount totaling $32 million. It is important to note that this funding does not cover the salaries of Turkish personnel, which will be paid directly by Turkey without being allocated to the hospital’s budget.

According to the statement accompanying the agreement, patients will be required to pay for their examination, diagnosis, and treatment at rates established by the legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic. The Kyrgyz-Turkish Friendship Hospital in Bishkek, which has been operational since 2021 despite its construction being completed in 2017, was officially named after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in 2024 by a decree signed by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov.

This partnership between Kyrgyzstan and Turkey in the healthcare sector not only aims to provide opportunities for medical professionals in Kyrgyzstan to enhance their skills but also to strengthen the ties between the two countries in the field of healthcare.
