“Penalty Imposed for Closing Tunnels at Istanbul Military Entertainment Event”
Four individuals were fined after they blocked a tunnel in Üsküdar, Istanbul for fun. The incident occurred on the 5th of May, in the Çamlıca-Libadiye Tunnel, where the group, resembling a convoy of soldiers, blocked the road, which received outrage from citizens. They took to social media to share images of the incident, leading to an investigation by the Traffic Branch Chief.
As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the individuals identified by the initials HA, KY, YT, and Ç.Y. violated the Highway Traffic Law No. 2918. They failed to provide a safe passage to other vehicles while driving in a group and disrupted the peace and comfort of the public. Consequently, they were issued a joint administrative fine of 4 thousand 518 TL for the offense of stopping in the tunnel.
The incident is a reminder to all drivers to follow traffic laws and ensure that they do not disturb the peace and safety of others while on the road.
