PEUGEOT Updates the 2008i – Auto News
French car manufacturer PEUGEOT has announced that a new version of its popular 2008 SUV will be hitting the market in summer 2023. The new compact SUV will feature four different engine options, including an all-electric model with a range of up to 406km on mixed cycles. The new model will also come with a new 115kW/156HP electric motor, representing an improvement of 15% on previous models. In addition to the electric version, the new model will also be available with a hybrid powertrain in early 2024. The company has said that this new vehicle aims to attract new customers with its modern design, improved efficiency and new generation connection solutions.
The PEUGEOT 2008 was launched in 2019 and has since seen sales success in both Europe and Turkey. It became the best-selling B-SUV in Turkey in 2021 and was the best-selling SUV in Europe in the same year. The E-2008 model, which has been produced more than 75,000 times, has been particularly successful, helping to pioneer a shift towards electric vehicles in the segment.
The new model is set to be produced at the Vigo Plant in Spain and will come in three different trim levels: ACTIVE, ALLURE and GT. The ACTIVE level will feature automatic air conditioning, a 10-inch central touchscreen, rear parking assist, power front and rear windows, and PEUGEOT i-Cockpit with 1 USB-C at the front. The ALLURE level will offer the same features as the ACTIVE plus 17-inch KARAKOY alloy wheels, a body-coloured grille, front and rear parking aids, and a 10-inch digital instrument cluster. The top-of-the-range GT level will add Full LED headlights, high-resolution camera for parking assistance, keyless entry and start, electric folding mirrors with welcome lighting, and GT logos.
The new PEUGEOT 2008 represents a significant upgrade on previous models, with improved power, efficiency and design. The company hopes that this new vehicle will continue its success in the B-SUV market and attract new customers with its alluring features and capabilities.
