“PKK Regional Officer in Germany Receives Prison Sentence”

German Court Sentences Senior PKK Member to Over 4 Years in Prison

A German court has sentenced a 59-year-old man named Abdullah Ö to 4 years and 5 months in prison for being a member of a foreign terrorist organization. The court’s decision stated that Ö had been a senior staff member in the PKK terrorist organization in Germany since August 2019, holding managerial positions.

According to the court’s statement, Ö operated as the so-called regional officer in Stuttgart, Hessen, Saarland, instructing PKK cadres and activists affiliated with him and controlling their implementation. The decision also stated that Ö had collected 900 thousand euros for the terrorist organization between June 2020 and April 2021 by participating in propaganda activities and meetings, controlling fundraising activities, and contacting potential donors.

In addition, the court stated that Ö had previously been sentenced to 3 years in prison for participating in the activities of the PKK and financing terrorism in France. Abdullah Ö was arrested in Germany in May 2021.

The Federal Prosecutor’s Office has the right to appeal the decision. The PKK, recognized as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States, and the European Union, has been responsible for the deaths of over 40,000 people in Turkey since 1984. German authorities have been cracking down on PKK activities in the country in recent years.
