Police Crack Down on Drug Cartels, Seize 100 kg of Narcotics

Authorities in Uzbekistan have intensified their efforts to crack down on drug trafficking across the country with a series of successful operations. Officers from the State Security Service (SSS), the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Customs Committee collaborated to apprehend individuals involved in distributing various narcotics.

In Surkhandarya region, a previously convicted resident of the Sariosiyo district was caught attempting to conceal a large quantity of opium in an unoccupied building on a local farm. The suspect, born in 1977, had been tasked with delivering the drugs from Tajikistan to Uzbekistan for a payment of $2,000. In another operation in Namangan region, a citizen born in 2001 was apprehended for distributing synthetic drugs and operating a drug laboratory in his mother-in-law’s house.

Additionally, in Tashkent, two individuals from Kashkadarya region were arrested for receiving a narcotic substance from Russia via mail and attempting to transport it to Samarkand region. As the operation unfolded, two more individuals were detained in the Pastdargom district after receiving the drugs in Samarkand.

Criminal cases have been initiated for all the incidents, and the detained individuals are currently in custody as investigations continue. These successful operations demonstrate the government’s commitment to combatting drug trafficking and ensuring the safety and security of all citizens in Uzbekistan.
