Possible “Batman Beyond” Movie with Michael Keaton: Breaking News

The Disappointing Box Office Performance of “The Flash” Puts Michael Keaton’s Batman Movie in Jeopardy
“The Flash”, the highly anticipated superhero film that was released last week, failed to meet expectations at the box office, and as a result, it may have major implications for the potential Batman movie starring Michael Keaton.
According to reports from ComicBook, Kevin Smith, a director, screenwriter, and actor, revealed that he has learned about Warner Bros’ plans for a live-action “Batman Beyond” movie. Smith obtained this information from the son of executive producer Michael Uslan, who has been involved in WB Batman projects since the iconic Tim Burton’s “Batman” was released in 1989. Uslan was also one of the executive producers for Matt Reeves’ recent film, “The Batman”.
During an episode of the Fatman Beyond podcast, Smith expressed his hope that “The Flash” would perform better at the box office because its success could pave the way for a Batman Beyond movie with Michael Keaton reprising his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Smith quoted Uslan’s son, stating, “If the movie is as successful as ‘The Batman’, one of the next Batman movies will be Batman Beyond with Michael Keaton. So I said, ‘Oh my god, I hope this movie makes a lot of money’.”
“The Batman”, which stars Robert Pattinson and was released in March 2022, achieved an impressive opening gross of $134 million at the American box office. By the end of its theatrical run, it grossed approximately $370 million in the United States and a whopping $770.9 million worldwide.
In contrast, “The Flash” fell short of expectations, opening with a gross of $55.1 million at the US box office, significantly lower than the estimated $70 million. Furthermore, there are speculations that its performance might be even worse than “Black Adam”. While it remains uncertain whether the rumors about a “Batman Beyond” movie are accurate, this disappointing box office outcome raises doubts about the possibility of seeing Michael Keaton in a standalone Batman film in the future.
The idea of a “Batman Beyond” movie has been circulating for some time. Initially, there were reports that Dan Casey, the writer of “Fast and Furious 9”, would be working on an animated Batman Beyond movie inspired by the style of “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse”. However, after James Gunn and Peter Safran took over the DC movies, rumors began to circulate that the project was canceled. None of these reports have been officially confirmed and have remained as mere speculation.
As fans await further news, it remains uncertain whether the disappointing performance of “The Flash” will indeed impact the plans for a Batman Beyond movie with Michael Keaton. One thing is for sure, though – the outcome of future DC movies and their box office success will play a vital role in determining the fate of this project.
