Premature Babies from Gaza’s Shifa Hospital to Receive Treatment in Egypt
Dozens of Premature Babies Evacuated from Gaza Hospitals
In a recent development, the Palestinian Red Crescent has reported that 28 premature babies were transferred by ambulances from the Emirates Hospital in Rafah to the Rafah Border Gate. These babies, who were originally transferred to the Emirates Hospital from Shifa Hospital due to the Israeli army’s raid and attacks, are now set to continue their treatment in Egypt.
The evacuation process was carried out in collaboration with the World Health Organization and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). Additionally, 3 out of the 31 premature babies transferred from Shifa Hospital to the south of Gaza are reportedly in good condition and will remain under hospital observation.
This development comes after the Shifa Hospital in the north of Gaza was forced to stop services due to the ongoing attacks by the Israeli army. The transfer of the premature babies to the Emirates Hospital was a crucial move to ensure that they continue to receive necessary medical care.
The evacuation of these vulnerable infants from the conflict-ridden area to Egypt for further treatment is a vital step in providing them with the care they urgently need. The Palestinian Red Crescent’s efforts to facilitate this evacuation amidst challenging circumstances reflect their commitment to the well-being of these premature babies. The international collaboration in this endeavor underscores the importance of global cooperation in addressing humanitarian crises.
