President Biden Signs $95 Billion Aid Package for Ukraine and Israel
US President Joe Biden has announced a significant increase in military aid to Ukraine, Israel, and the Indo-Pacific region, following the passage of a foreign aid package through Congress.
During a press conference at the White House, Biden stated that America is as strong as its allies and emphasized the importance of supporting Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression. The President confirmed that the US will immediately begin sending weapons, equipment, air defense ammunition, and armored vehicles to Ukraine.
Highlighting the fact that the weapons being sent to Ukraine are American-made, Biden stressed that this move not only supports Ukraine but also benefits the American defense and arms industry.
In addition to the aid to Ukraine, the US administration will provide $26 billion in military support to Israel. Biden defended this decision by citing recent attacks on Israel by Iran and its proxies and reaffirmed the US commitment to Israel’s security.
The foreign aid package, which was passed by both houses of Congress and signed by Biden, also includes $9 billion in humanitarian aid for war zones, including Gaza, and $8.1 billion in support for the Indo-Pacific region, specifically Taiwan.
Furthermore, the package authorizes the freezing of Russian assets in the US to aid Ukraine and includes provisions for the banning of TikTok in the United States.
Overall, the foreign aid package reflects a significant increase in US support for its allies in the face of geopolitical challenges in different regions of the world.
