President expands and renames Ministry for Digital Development

The President of Kyrgyzstan has taken steps to further advance digital transformation by renaming the Ministry of Digital Development and expanding its functions. Sadyr Japarov signed a decree to rename the ministry to the Ministry of Digital Development and Innovative Technologies.

This change is aimed at enhancing the management of digital transformation in public administration, creating conditions for continuous improvement, and maximizing the potential of digital technologies for the benefit of the people. The new ministry will be responsible for developing and implementing state policy in digitalization, electronic governance, electronic services, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and other innovative technologies.

In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers has been instructed to create Tunduk OJSC with 100 percent state participation. This entity will be responsible for providing services related to the development, modernization, and technical support of information systems for state and local government bodies, as well as other institutions.

The decree is set to come into force seven days after its official publication, marking a significant step towards advancing digitalization and innovation in Kyrgyzstan.
