President Gardiyanoğlu Calls on KTTB Board to Help Solve Prescription Crisis

The president of the Turkish Cypriot Freelancers’ Association (KTSÇHB), Remzi Gardiyanoğlu, has called upon the Turkish Cypriot Medical Association (KTBB) to help resolve the prescription crisis.

In a press conference titled “Past, Today and Tomorrow of the Social Insurance Prescription Crisis”, the KTSÇHB outlined the current problems and shared potential solutions to the issue. The association has been closely monitoring the “Social Insurance prescription crisis” since the police investigation was launched on September 21, 2023.

Gardiyanoğlu criticized the KTBB President for attempting to cover up their administrative weaknesses and exploiting the situation. He emphasized the importance of impartiality and collaboration in addressing the prescription crisis.

The KTSÇHB has held meetings with various organizations including the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, Social Insurance Department, KTBB, and Turkish Cypriot Pharmacists Association (KTEB) to find a resolution to the crisis. However, Gardiyanoğlu expressed disappointment in the lack of cooperation from the KTBB, accusing them of politicizing the issue and causing difficulties for the public.

He further addressed the KTBB’s claims regarding the age of the Prescription Regulation and emphasized the need for collaboration and accurate understanding of the existing laws and regulations. Gardiyanoğlu also highlighted the role of the Turkish Cypriot Pharmacists Association and the Turkish Cypriot Freelancers Association in supporting the people during this crisis.

The KTSÇHB President urged the KTBB to contribute to resolving the prescription crisis and facilitate access to medicines for the public. He emphasized the importance of avoiding ungrounded accusations and criticisms for political reasons and instead focusing on concrete steps to protect the rights of physicians and patients.
