President Mirziyoyev Grants Pardon to Over 500 Prisoners, Including Foreign Nationals and Prohibited Organization Members

In honor of Uzbekistan’s 33rd independence anniversary, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has granted pardons to 522 individuals who have shown sincere repentance for their actions. The presidential decree, entitled “On pardoning a group of individuals serving sentences, who sincerely repented for their actions and have firmly embarked on the path of reform,” marks a significant step towards rehabilitation and reintegration for those deserving a second chance.

According to the decree, 159 individuals have been released from their primary punishment, while 303 have been conditionally released before the completion of their sentence. Additionally, the sentences of 60 individuals have been replaced with lighter punishments as a gesture of clemency and compassion.

Among those pardoned are 19 foreign citizens, 56 women, 25 men over the age of 60, 233 young people (including one minor), and 27 individuals who were affiliated with prohibited organizations.
