President of Azerbaijan Meets Rais of Republic of Tatarstan
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov recently held a meeting in the Zangilan district of Azerbaijan. The two leaders discussed various topics, including the joint center that was opened on the same day. President Aliyev expressed his pleasure in meeting President Minnikhanov again and lauded the progress that has been made in implementing their previous agreements. He thanked Tatarstan for their support in the restoration of territories and expressed hope that the cooperation program between the two countries will be fully realized.
President Aliyev mentioned the great prospects for industrial cooperation, energy, and the oil and gas sector. He also emphasized the importance of cultural cooperation between Tatarstan and Azerbaijan, highlighting the strong historical and fraternal relations between the two peoples. Furthermore, he mentioned that the relations between Tatarstan and Azerbaijan contribute to the strengthening of friendly and allied relations between Russia and Azerbaijan.
President Minnikhanov thanked President Aliyev for the invitation and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to visit Azerbaijan. He acknowledged the close historical ties between Tatars and Azerbaijanis, particularly in terms of language. President Minnikhanov also mentioned that they visited a mosque under construction, which further symbolizes the shared cultural heritage between the two nations. He noted that the foundation of the strong relationship between Tatarstan and Azerbaijan was laid by former presidents Mintimer Shaimiyev and Heydar Aliyev, who were close friends.
