Prevention of Illegal Import of 50 Tons of Strawberry Seedlings

North-East Customs in Kyrgyzstan have recently made a significant discovery, detecting the illegal import of almost 50 tons of strawberry seedlings. The State Customs Service reported that the strawberry seedlings were found in a warehouse in Bishkek without the necessary documents to confirm their legal import into the country.

It was determined that the strawberry seedlings, weighing a total of 49,100 kilograms, had arrived from Turkey. Instead of being delivered to the customs authority for inspection, the goods were immediately unloaded at the recipient’s warehouse.

In response to this discovery, a protocol for the detention of the goods was drawn up in accordance with the customs legislation of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). The estimated damage caused to the state budget was reported to be 1,465,207 soms. The materials gathered during the investigation have been forwarded to the Prosecutor General’s Office for further action.

This incident highlights the importance of complying with import regulations and the consequences of attempting to bypass them. The State Customs Service continues to work diligently to prevent illegal activities and protect the country’s economic interests.
