Prime Minister’s Son Receives Warning for Hosting Party at Official Residence in Japan

Prime Minister of Japan, Kishida, has faced criticism from the Constitutional Democratic Party (CDP) for holding a party with his son and party members at the official residence. The CDP argues that this sets a bad example for the separation of public and private affairs. Cabinet Chief Secretary Matsuno Hirokazu has issued a strong warning to Kishida Shotaro, the prime minister’s son and executive secretary, describing his actions as inappropriate. The government has stated that it is aware of the situation and will ensure proper use and management of the official residence so that such incidents do not recur. Kishida had appointed his son to the position based on personality and foresight, according to the Chief Cabinet Secretariat. Kishida became the Prime Minister of Japan in October 2021.
