Minister Yerlikaya emphasizes peace and security in Gaziantep
Minister Yerlikaya recently spoke at the “Peace of Turkey, Peace of Gaziantep” program held at Şehitkamil Culture and Congress Center, highlighting the importance of peace and security in the region. Having worked in Gaziantep for four years, he expressed his deep connection to the city and the developments he observed during his time there.
During his speech, Minister Yerlikaya emphasized the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ commitment to peace and security, declaring, “We set out with the slogan ‘Peace of Turkey’. I have 600 thousand colleagues in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. We are a heroic family with a population of 600 thousand. As the family of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the rule of law and human rights are our reference. Our duty is the peace of Turkey.”
Furthermore, Minister Yerlikaya reaffirmed Turkey’s determination to combat terrorism and organized crime, stating that the country will continue its efforts until the last terrorist is neutralized. He emphasized the importance of upholding the rule of law and human rights in all operations conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
In addition, Minister Yerlikaya highlighted the government’s focus on addressing irregular migration, referencing a recent tragic incident involving foreign nationals attempting to travel to a nearby Greek island from Çanakkale. He urged authorities to identify and apprehend those responsible for organizing such dangerous journeys, emphasizing the need to crack down on human trafficking and smuggling networks.
The program was attended by Gaziantep Governor Kemal Çeber, AK Party Group Deputy Chairman Abdulhamit Gül, AK Party Gaziantep MPs Ali Şahin, Derya Bakbak, Mehmet Eyup Özkeçeci, Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin, and other relevant officials.
