Protests Erupt in Morocco condemning Israeli Attack
Hundreds of Moroccans took to the streets in cities like Tangier, Meknes, Tatvan, and Rabat to voice their outrage over Israel’s recent attack. The demonstrations, organized by various non-governmental organizations, saw protestors brandishing banners condemning the Israeli army’s assault on the Cibaliya Refugee Camp.
The protestors called for concrete action to halt the war on innocent civilians in Gaza and expressed disappointment over the silence of the international community. The Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that the attack led by Israeli forces on the Cibaliya Refugee Camp resulted in the tragic loss of 100 lives, according to initial findings. Israeli Army Spokesperson Daniel Hagari confirmed the responsibility for the attack during a press conference last night.
In response to Israel’s ongoing violations against Palestinians and their sacred values, particularly the Masjid al-Aqsa, the armed wing of Hamas, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, launched a comprehensive attack on October 7. In retaliation, the Israeli army intensified airstrikes in the Gaza Strip.
Israeli officials disclosed that, as a result of the attacks from Gaza, over 1,400 Israelis, including 317 soldiers, lost their lives, and 5,132 people sustained injuries. The Israeli Army Spokesperson also revealed that the al-Qassam Brigades are currently holding 240 Israeli prisoners in Gaza.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza confirmed that 8,525 Palestinians, including 3,542 children and 2,187 women, were killed, and 21,643 people were injured due to Israeli attacks. Moreover, in the occupied West Bank, Israeli forces and Jewish settlers killed 126 Palestinians and injured approximately 2,000 individuals.
Tragically, the Israeli bombardment claimed the lives of 35 journalists in Gaza and one journalist in Lebanon. The intense attacks in the blockaded Gaza Strip have disrupted landline, mobile phone, and internet communication services.
On October 26, the Israeli army initiated limited ground operations, further escalating the intensity of air strikes. Even the largest healthcare facility in Gaza, Shifa Hospital, which was treating numerous injured and civilians, became a target for the Israeli army.
In the clashes between the Israeli army and Hezbollah since October 8, a total of 48 Hezbollah members and four Israeli soldiers have lost their lives.
The situation remains dire as the international community watches. The protests in Morocco reflect the widespread condemnation of Israel’s attack and the urgent need for intervention to protect innocent lives caught in the crossfire.
