Russian President Putin Submits Candidacy for 2024 Election
Russian President Vladimir Putin has officially submitted his application to become an independent candidate in the upcoming presidential election in 2024. According to a statement from the Kremlin Palace, Putin visited the Russian Central Election Commission to submit the necessary documents and sign his application.
The country’s Federation Council had previously decided to hold the presidential election on March 15-17, 2024. Putin, who announced his candidacy earlier, will participate in the election race as an independent candidate, with the support of the “United Russia” Party in the Duma, the lower house of the Russian parliament.
In the previous presidential election held in 2018, Putin was elected president with an overwhelming 76.69 percent of the votes. Now, as he prepares to run for re-election, the Russian leader is positioning himself once again as a leading candidate in the upcoming election.
