Qassam Brigades accuse Israel of Deliberately Killing Prisoners in Gaza
The situation in the Middle East remains dire as the conflict between Israel and Hamas escalates, resulting in a high number of casualties and widespread destruction. Since October 7, 2023, the Gaza Strip has been the epicenter of intense violence, with both sides claiming significant losses.
Hamas’s armed wing, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, launched a comprehensive attack on Israel on October 7, citing continuous violations against Palestinians and sacred values. Israel reported 1,200 deaths and over 5,000 injuries as a result of the attacks.
In response, Israel’s attacks on the Gaza Strip have led to the deaths of over 28,000 Palestinians, including thousands of children and women, and over 68,000 injuries. The destruction of civilian infrastructure, including hospitals and educational institutions, has further exacerbated the humanitarian crisis.
A brief humanitarian pause in the conflict resulted in the release of some prisoners on both sides, but Israel continued to detain and imprison thousands of Palestinians. Meanwhile, in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, 395 Palestinians lost their lives in attacks by Israeli forces and illegal Jewish settlers.
The conflict also spilled over into clashes between the Israeli army and Hezbollah, resulting in significant casualties on both sides. The toll includes the deaths of Hezbollah members, Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement members, and Lebanese civilians, as well as Israeli civilians and soldiers.
The ongoing violence has led to a deepening humanitarian crisis, and the international community must urgently act to facilitate peace negotiations and provide humanitarian assistance to those affected by the conflict. The toll on civilian lives and infrastructure is a tragic reminder of the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to the long-standing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
