Kyrgyzstan’s National Football Team Makes History by Qualifying for 2026 FIFA World Cup
In a historic moment for Kyrgyzstan, the national football team has secured a place in the third round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and also qualified for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup. This achievement was recently announced by the press service of the Kyrgyz Football Union.
The upcoming match on March 25 will see Kyrgyzstan’s national team facing off against the reigning Asian champions, Qatar, at the Dolon Omurzakov stadium in Bishkek at 6 p.m. local time. This will be the team’s first home match in 2025.
The World Cup qualifiers have divided 18 teams into three groups of six, with the top two teams from each group earning a spot at the 2026 World Cup. Two more Asian representatives will be determined in the fourth qualification round, and an additional place will be contested through an intercontinental playoff. Kyrgyzstan’s team has been placed in Group A alongside Iran, Qatar, the UAE, North Korea, and Uzbekistan.
Spectators at the upcoming match will be treated to refreshments and will have the opportunity to participate in an iftar at the stadium, as per the press service’s announcement.
