“Real Estate Acquisition and Long-Term Leasing (Foreigners) Amendment Bill Passed by Majority Vote” – BRTK
The “Real Estate Acquisition and Long-Term Leasing (Foreigners) (Amendment) Bill” has passed through the Republic Assembly with a majority vote. Additionally, the “Temporary Rules for Elections and Referendums” Bill and the decision proposal for voting day for the Local Governing Bodies Interim Election were also unanimously approved.
As a result, it was decided to hold elections for vacant muhtarships and elder council memberships on Sunday, June 30th. The first reading was done on the decision proposal for the determination of the voting day for Local Governing Bodies Interim Election by the head of the Law, Political Affairs, and Foreign Affairs Committee, Yasemi Öztürk.
The report was unanimously approved during the voting process. Next, they moved on to the “Temporary Rules for Elections and Referendums (Amendment) Bill”. The report on the proposal was read by Yasemi Öztürk. The entire proposal was unanimously approved.
During the discussion of the “Real Estate Acquisition and Long-Term Leasing (Foreigners) (Amendment) Bill,” changes to the clauses were explained by Yasemi Öztürk. Restrictions on foreign property acquisitions were mentioned, including a rule specifying the invalidation of contracts two years after signing.
It was emphasized that with the passing of the law, necessary data would be obtained regarding foreign property acquisitions. Concerns were raised about the lack of data on foreign property acquisitions, and penalties were introduced to address this issue.
Various perspectives were shared by political figures during the assembly. CTP General Secretary Tufan Erhürman highlighted concerns about the legislation, emphasizing the need for clearer boundaries and population-based regulations.
CTP Member Ongun Talat criticized the bill, alleging that it was crafted by Turkish bureaucrats and did not adequately address the needs of local residents.
The session ended with the approval of the bills and proposals discussed. The next assembly session is scheduled for tomorrow at 10:00 am.
