Over 1.6 Million Turkish Citizens Cast Their Votes at Foreign Representative Offices and Customs Gates
The voting process for the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections in Turkey started on April 27, and according to the Supreme Election Board (YSK), over 1.6 million voters have already cast their votes at foreign representative offices and customs gates.
A total of 1,674,060 Turkish citizens exercised their right to vote at foreign representative offices, while 124,445 voters cast their ballots at the customs gates. The voting at foreign representative offices will continue until May 9, while the customs gates will remain open until May 14 at 5:00 pm.
Despite some logistical challenges, Turkish citizens living abroad have been showing a high level of interest in the elections, with long lines forming outside the consulate offices in many countries. The overseas vote is expected to play an important role in determining the outcome of the elections, as many believe that it could potentially sway the results in favor of one of the candidates.
For those who have not yet voted, it is important to note that the ballot box is open not only for those who are currently abroad, but also for Turkish citizens who reside in Turkey but will be away during the election day. To vote, they must travel to their designated polling station between 08:00 am and 5:00 pm on June 24.
