Record Harvest of Sugar Beets in Karakum Etrap Orient Tops 100,000 Tons

Farmers in the Karakum etrap of Turkmenistan have achieved great success in exceeding the state plan for sugar beet deliveries. The harvest this year has exceeded 100,000 tons, surpassing the planned 75,120 tons, as reported by the «Нейтральный Туркменистан» newspaper.
The Karakum district, known as the largest region in the Murgap oasis for growing sugar beets, saw high yields from the 6,000 hectares of crop planted last year. This success is credited to the hard work of agricultural unions “Baýramaly,” “Garagum kanaly,” and “Ak altyn,” as well as local entrepreneurs who exceeded their targets by 2-2.5 times.
While most of the harvest has already been delivered, the farmers are still busy with the ongoing harvesting of root crops. Modern agricultural machinery is being used for plowing and land leveling on the cleared fields, in preparation for the upcoming spring season in the district.
In addition to sugar beets, preparations are also underway for potato planting in the region. A total of 1,000 hectares have been allocated for potato cultivation, with land preparation already completed. Farmers are now focusing on resolving the issue of seed material. Similar planting preparations are taking place in other districts of the Murgap Valley, with the Sakarchagin district planning to sow potatoes on 1,450 hectares starting in the second half of February.
The success of the farmers in the Karakum etrap is a testament to their hard work and dedication to agriculture. As they continue to exceed expectations, the region is set to have a thriving agricultural season ahead.
