Regulation Delayed: Collection of Contribution Fees from Credit Cards Put on Hold – Latest News from Turkey

Negotiations on the Defense Industry Omnibus Bill, which includes the collection of contribution fees from credit cards, have been postponed until 2025. AK Party Group Chairman Abdullah Güler announced that discussions on the Defense Industry Support Fund Proposal have been concluded.

Güler stated, “We have completed negotiations to further examine the proposal.” The bill will now be reviewed by the commission in 2025.

The legal proposal includes an annual contribution fee of 750 lira to be collected from credit cards with a limit of 100 thousand lira and above. Additionally, there will be a deduction of 750 lira from both the buyer and seller in real estate transactions, as well as a deduction of 375 lira from other transactions involving title deeds.

The bill also proposed fees of 3,000 lira for new vehicle registrations, 1,500 lira for the buying and selling of second-hand vehicles, and 75 lira for other transactions.

These measures aim to bolster the Defense Industry Support Fund, with the collected fees contributing to the development and enhancement of the defense sector. The postponement of negotiations until 2025 provides more time for stakeholders to further analyze and consider the potential implications of the bill.
