Representatives Abroad Hold 15 July Commemoration Ceremonies
Commemorative events were held at various Turkish embassies around the world to mark the July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day. A ceremony took place at the Turkish Embassy in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, where Raja Parwez Ashraf, Speaker of the Federal Assembly of Pakistan, attended as the guest of honor. During his speech, Harun Küçükaladağlı, Coordinator of Maarif Schools Pakistan, highlighted that FETÖ (Fethullah Terrorist Organization) had been declared a terrorist organization by Pakistan’s constitutional court.
In Greece, a ceremony was held at the Turkish Embassy in Athens, and a photography exhibition depicting the events of the 15 July Epic was opened. The Ambassador of Athens, Çağatay Erciyes, emphasized that Athens had shown support to FETÖ members, stating that the terrorist organization had almost established a base in Greece.
In the UK, a commemoration event took place at the Turkish Embassy in London, where a moment of silence was observed for the martyrs of July 15, and the Quran was recited. Turkey’s Ambassador to London, Osman Koray Ertaş, emphasized the importance of reminding future generations about the treacherous coup attempt and ensuring they do not forget that dark day.
A commemoration ceremony was also held at the Turkish Embassy in Rome, Italy. Additionally, an exhibition featuring photographs depicting the events of the July 15 coup attempt was opened at the Yunus Emre Institute Rome Turkish Cultural Center, with contributions from the Embassy Culture and Promotion Counselors.
In Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, activities were organized as part of the July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day. The Turkish Embassy in Zagreb arranged for Quran recitation in mosques and masjids across Croatia. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, mosques throughout the country conducted Yasin readings in memory of the martyrs of July 15.
These commemorative events serve as a reminder of the importance of democracy, unity, and the resilience of the Turkish people in the face of adversity. They also aim to educate future generations about the sacrifices made during the treacherous coup attempt and ensure that such a dark chapter in history is not forgotten.
